Fibre Optic Cable lands in East Africa Coast

As East Africans braze themselves to move from Satelite dependent internet to Faster Sub Marine Fiber optic cable,one more question lingers in my mind.Are we ready for this Technological Advancement?
Internet Usage in East Africa ie in Kenya,Uganda,Tanzania,Rwanda and Burundi has seen steady increase since the year 2006.Unfortunately,we have been duped to to consume foreign content.From Social Networks like Facebook,Myspace to Research ie Wikipedia,there is no single comprehensive website run from East Africa at the moment.

We have fallen short in content creation hence we may be fed with foreign content for several years to come if ICT Experts wont give us direction in content creation.

The reason why we are falling short of this order is because sincerely in East Africa
colleges tend to train computer secretaries unlike in India where they enable students to be computer professionals.Most people who claim to be computer literate in East Africa are mere guys who know how to use Microsoft Office suite but if you challenge them to programme simple programs,they actually don't know.Is this where the rain started to beat us?
